Try Shipping Luggage Today

Are you someone who travels frequently both internationally and domestically for business and pleasure? Do you find yourself frequently paying extra for excess baggage over the limited number of pieces of luggage that is allowed? Did you know that you can stop paying extra for excess baggage and try shipping luggage instead today? It's true. Every year thousands of people are hit with extra charges for excess baggage that is over the size limit, over the weight limit, or simply too many pieces for the travel. These fees add up quickly and for anyone who travels frequently, this spells out money that could be in your pocket rather than being shelled out on extra costs for excess baggage.

City of Seven Hills

Rome, the capital city of Italy, is historically known as 'City of Seven Hills.' According to Roman mythology, the seven hills of early Rome were the Cermalus, Cispius, Fagutal, Oppius, Palatium, Sucusa and Velia. But now the modern 'City of Seven Hills' includes Myrtle, Blossom, Clock Tower, Jackson, Lumpkin and Old Shorter hills and Mount Aventine.

Colosseum

Elizabeth cleared up some misconceptions I had about the Colosseum. One of these was that Christians battled lions there. The Colosseum, which was built largely with the labor of thousands of Jewish slaves brought to Rome by the emperor Titus after he destroyed the temple in Jerusalem, was certainly an arena for death. The wildlife of northern Africa was significantly depleted by the three hundred years of savage sport staged in the Colosseum, featuring animals and gladiators fighting to satisfy the blood lust of the up to 80,000 fans in the audience. However, our guide Elizabeth made it clear there is no historical proof for the exciting tales of early Christians being thrown to the lions in the Colosseum. Historians now believe those stories were invented to glamorize the suffering of early Christians at the hands of the Romans. Despite the fact there are no written records of Christians being martyred in the Colosseum it remains a holy site for the Catholic church and every Good Friday the Pope leads the stations of the cross procession at the Colosseum, commemorating the fourteen stages of Christ's passion.

Visit Rome This Winter

Now the nights are drawing in and the temperature has dropped, Rome is not always the first destination to pop into one's head for an off-season break. However, the chilly season is actually one of the best times to visit the city. Apart from the overcrowded fortnight during Christmas and New Year, there are thousands of reasons to visit the Eternal City between November and March. Here are just a few:
1) No Queues - Rome is a zoo in high season with thousands of tourists shuffling through the city absently clicking their camera as they catch a glimpse of the glory of Rome. Queues for the Colosseum and Vatican snake miles down the street and involve an exhausting wait which leaves little energy for the masterpieces of history. How lovely to stroll straight in and take your time to appreciate your surroundings at your own pace. The city is more tranquil in winter, and therefore so are you.
2) Food - Roman food is delicious whatever the weather but there's something truly special about digging into a steaming plate of Bucatini all' Amatriciana in a cosy restaurant while the rain lashes at the windows. Or settling under a gas heater outside a bar in Campo de' Fiori to people watch while sipping a glass of red wine, which turns into a bottle. Some of the best foods of the region come into season in the winter months; think punterelle with the classic anchovy, garlic and vinegar dressing or a crunchy fried artichoke alla giudia. It's a great period to try out a Roman style long lunch and your stomach will thank you for it!
3) Christmas Lights- The period just before Christmas or after New Year is perhaps the most picturesque time to visit the city. Lights twinkle down the small labyrinthine alleyways and a huge 23-foot Christmas tree, dotted with 15,000 lights, dominates Piazza Venezia. Over at the Vatican the traditional nativity scene and tree in the centre of Piazza San Pietro just scream Christmas spirit while the traditional Christmas market in Piazza Navona will turn even the biggest Scrooge into a festive elf. The juxtaposition of Bernini's spectacular Fountain of the Four Rivers with candy stalls, hook-a-duck and Santa's sleigh is a sight well worth seeing.
4) Bargains- The sales start in early January and there are plenty of bargains to be had as everybody in Rome flocks to the sales to stock up their wardrobes. Whether you head to the label lovers' paradise of Via Condotti, the high street stores on Via del Corso or the small boutiques in Trastevere or Monti it's a great opportunity to pick up a little of that Italian style at a great price.

Moving to Europe?

If you like to go on holiday each year, you may go to Spain or to France or even to the Caribbean wherever you go you always think oh I wish I could stay and live here. Well now that's what many people are doing, there packing their old lives up in the UK and moving on to new pastures usually in and around Europe. I think many people move to Europe because there not too far away from the UK and so can easily hop on a plane or a boat and visit family and friends.
I would say Spain is the place most British people move too, it has sun throughout the year and of course that means its warm most of the time, unlike Britain where we might get the odd week here and there when we think its summer. As well as the weather Spain has a lower cost of living so your money would go further not only in property but also food, clothing etc. If you do want to move to Spain or any other country in Europe your best bet is to go there on holiday and don't just limit yourself to the coastal areas but move inland and relax then go and have a look around different towns and villages and see if you like any.
If you're looking to invest in a business out there too then a good idea is to find other British people who have moved from the UK and ask for their advice. They will know of places which may be for sale or available to rent, they will also know of any good areas to find a house within your price range. Locals will be your best bet at helping you decide if the area is for you.
If you do decide to move to anywhere in Europe of course you will need help moving all your belongings from your home in the UK to your new home in the sun whether its Spain, France, Portugal, Italy or Germany. You may even decide to just take your clothes, your special items and other important items you want to have with you. Furniture, pots and pans etc. may not be necessary but some people want to start a fresh and also find it cheaper to buy all new furniture when they're settled in their new home as shipping all your furniture and other belongings to your new life can be expensive.
It's only the packing of all your items you have to worry about; it's making sure you have filled in all the correct paperwork so your containers can be shipped from the UK to your chosen destination. International shipping companies can help make the move less stressful, taking on board all your worries. They will help you pack your items safely and securely and have them aboard a van, which will be driven to the country where your new life is and if there are problems with getting the van to your new property then a smaller local van can be used. The removal and shipping company will take the stress away from your move from the UK to Europe so why not spend that bit of money to make your move less stressful and more relaxing.
